Default Can't shake off this self-pity.

On the only blog site I post on, thereís one member who is aggressively positive and cheerful. Apparently this means grinning like a rictus in each photo, and being nasty when someone posts something he doesnít like. The most positive person is the meanest, it turns out.

He comes on my blog and posts hurtful comments if I mention someone famous in the news with any criticism. Itís foolish, but these comments hurt quite a bit. Iím kind of obsessive and it stays in my head for days ó I canít seem to stop crying today. Iíve felt really unlikeable for a good while now, and he just reawakened that feeling.

Hey stirfry,

Do you have any options of blocking people or moderating comments on your blog? I don't know many blog sites, maybe some of the biggest ones before but now I rarely look because I felt insecure at my own words and what others would think of them. I also had "somebody" directly abusing me and it hurt a lot - managed to work out the same little language mistakes that me ex-wife made (this was when I was with her), that it was an old friend of hers that was very materialistic and telling her elsewhere to leave me for somebody rich and supposedly better. The comments hurt a lot.

It got to the same point as on any forum I was ever on before, and I left. Even without knowing the exact content of your blogs and these comments, it seems a form of online bullying and as not warranted, there should be means to do something about it. Blocking if there are options, moderating, or make a complaint to the website that these comments are happening and you are not comfortable with it. You shouldn't be made to feel like this, but don't give up on doing something you enjoy

Well put Andino. I could not have typed that better myself.

stirfry, if you can block this person, it will be a big help to yourself if you do it! They're only out for your pain and you don't deserve being hurt like that. While it's okay to disagree with someone, it's not okay to be rude and hurtful doing it. There's a thing called common courtesy and respect and this person doesn't seem to grasp that simple concept. He or she's a waste of your time. As for feeling unlikeable, yes, I know that feeling very well. Been down that road too. You're not alone. And coming here to speak with people, is a good idea as it can give you some perspective and some ideas on how to cope and deal with these challenges. Hang in there. You're not alone.

Other sites have that option, but this is a poorly-maintained one that does not have comment blocking. The entire site may shut down after a while; the members are disappearing.

The one who makes the comments is old, so he's not likely to change things. I'm not so irritated now, but I do feel like this is censoring me and I'll have to think about that and what I want to write about.
