Smile What a Surprize

I was given the greatest gift of all today!
My grandmother has just come home from the nursing home. She is 97 and needs assistance with basically everything. I was scared to death at the prospect of taking care of her.
Well after two days I feel better then I have in a very long time.I feel like I have a purpose, other then raising children. Don't get me wrong I love my kids, but this is very gratifying in a different sense! I feel truly useful and I am so glad I didn't let my fear stop me from doing this!
I just had to let you all know! Don't let fear stop you from achieving something that you want!

Wow TA I'm so pleased as you had posted your fear about this and you faced it and you discover things about it you didn't know. It's wonderful. Keep us posted with your progress ok?

Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.

That is wonderful to hear you say that. I hope you can spend this time with your mom and that it is truly sweet and dear for both of you.

Day 2 and everything went very well! I'm pleasantly surprized. It amazes me that I'm capable of caring and being reliable. It's been over 3 yrs since I had any kind of a job. This is really making me feel good and productive, I have been feeling like a waste of space but doing this for her well...it just feels good :D
It's keeping me from worrying about kids and getting my mind on something else besides dwelling on the their problems.

Thumbs up good for you

TA, I applaud you looking after your Gran.....and that you are getting so much from it.....I care for my mother, 14 months now and I do for her what you would do for a 1 year old...the doctors are always trying to get us to put her in a nursing home.....not as yet...It is gratifying.......and I agree it gives you a purpose and a good feeling about yourself.......((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) ))))))))) mambear

Thnx mambear *hug* Thank goodness grams isn't as difficult as 1 yr old! I've a feeling your job is alot harder then mine! Plus there is always my dad around who actuallly cooks for her and his house where she lives! The only thing that bothers me is her understandable depression. At 97 she says that shes tired and looks forward to going to the grave. She has buried 2 hus 8 siblings and my dad is an only child and has had some heart problems so she will pop off occasionally that she would rather be dead! I tell her that Gods not done with her yet and she will just have to bear with us! :D
I hope things are going better for you! ((((((((mamabear))))))
