Peter Crouch got a hat trick tonight to beat Young Boys (Swiss side) to put Spurs into the Champions league proper.

Fabio Cappello stated today that the door is still open for older players such as David Beckham to be recalled to the national side.

What next...recalling Tom Finney?

Or even dig up Stanley Matthews, have him embalmed and set him in the team dugout for the next international? lol.

Default England 4 - Bulgaria 0

A great win for England at Wembley with a man of the match performance from Jermain Defoe who bagged a hattrick.

The new keeper, Joe Hart, had an assured performance in nets and made a couple of timely saves when England just lead by 1-0. In fact one save he made saw the English team counter attack, for Defoe to put the ball in the Bulgarian only 14 seconds after Hart's save (according to TV commentator Clive Tyldesley).

Wayne Rooney still failed to score, but he had a much better game in that he set up a couple of goals for Defoe and always was a threat to the Bulgarians.

It's still time for England to keep their feet on the ground however, as the quality of the opposition was limited. England after all, are ranked 7th in the World according to the FIFA rankings, while the Bulgarians (now without the services of the internationally retired Dimitar Berbatov of Manchester United) are a lowly 43rd...just above Burkina Faso!!!.....Burkina who?????........exactly!!!.....say no more.

Default Slovenia 0 - N. Ireland 1

Feel like I'm talking to myself on this thread...but here I go again anyway.

The statelet into which I was born played above themselves to perform a giant killing act. Slovenia were after all one of the surprise packages in the recent World Cup who are currently ranked 19th by FIFA, while "Ulster" are only a lowly 59th.

The younger of the Evans brothers slid in to net the winner for the Irish and give them full points away from home.

Default Armenia 0 - Republic of Ireland 1

Me yet again talking to myself as usual about football.

The other "half" of my divided country, the Republic of Ireland, made rather hard work of getting a win to lowly Armenia (ranked 96th by FIFA, while the Irish are 36th). Look carefully at that name most of you, will you..."the Republic of Ireland"....it's not Southern Ireland or Eire as many know nothing arseholes are prone to call the nation. Not important you might say, but you would not say that if you came from England and had your nation called South West Britain, instead of England, would you? The country is a 26 county "Republic" and is thus like the USA in that it's constitution is not spearheaded by a fucking monarch. Only 6 more counties needed to make it a 32 county Republic....I hope that I live long enough to see that day.

But, I have went off in a tangent from the match. Sorry!!!

I feel that the men from the Republic are a far better team than this result, definitely better than their 36th ranking by FIFA. But that is probably because of their controversial failure to make the last World Cup because of "that game" with France.....but that is another story.

Anyway, Robbie Keane missed an absolute sitter, before 2nd half sub Keith Fahey scored his first goal for the Republic and valuable away points. It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

Maybe I should have said "South Eastern Britain" instead of what I said in the last post (for England).

But, as I am the only one who posts on this thread, no-one probably gives a fuck anyway.

I'll be back to talk to myself later....unless the mods PM me about some other "truth" that offends.

Remember the George Washington quote below...it is one of life's priorities.

It was a good weekend for the British islands. I saw Englands`s first half and I think they played well (although it was against a weak team).

My country Portugal, on the other hand, was terrible. They suffer 4 goals against the small Cyprus and the game ended in a draw. I am so pissed
