Default football fans

any football fans or footballers on here?

I like playing and I'm interested in coaching, I'm hopefully joining a new team soon, I'm meeting the coach this week. I'm anxious of course but I probably shouldn't talk about that in this part of the site. I played left back at school because I'm left-footed and everyone else wanted to play up front, I always wanted to play further back. I haven't played since. I wasn't brilliant but it was fun.

I'd like football (or any other sport) much better if they showed the cheerleaders as much as they show the players now....and the players as much as they show the cheerleaders now.
To me, sports is just a bunch of over grown guys fighting over a ball....but those cheerleaders ROCK...

I don't think they really have cheerleaders at the matches I go to. If only, that would cheer me up if my team lost.

But I see you're in the USA, I'm in the UK so I actually mean soccer. I've never really got into your football.

I've seen American Football on TV and while the action takes place it is entertaining. Unfortunately, the play stops every few seconds and far too many products are advertised in gaps in between.

Why is it called "football" when the ball seems to be thrown 99% of the time?

Good question, why does our football have to be called soccer when we're the ones who use our feet?

Soccer is a colloquial expression used to describe the current game which became known as Association Football, to distinguish it from Rugby Union Football, which was a completely different football code.

Yes I do know why it's called soccer, I was just trying to be friendly and do banter.

Well it starts with a kick, lol.

American Football is best watched on a DVR. In fact, the little skip forward button seems almost to be designed to skip from play to play.

Soccer fan here. Did you watch the South Korea vs Argentina match??!

Park Ji Sung rocked!

Also, I bet you must've felt the pinch when England's Green accidentally let that "easy-ball" into the goal..

South Korea has a great opportunity to advance to the second round for the first time outside their own country. A win against Nigeria would do it.
