It can be tricky. Personally I go back and forth. Can never climb much higher than being "ok" with myself, but it beats having the taste of vile self hatred lingering in my mouth.
The more unhealthy I become (neglecting proper diet, needless indulgence in social media sites, isolating to the extreme), the more often the self abhorrence within me seems to rise up. This is a huge factor in how all of us perceive ourselves and our lives/situations. Start with taking good care of yourself...even if you think you are not worth the effort. Even if it feels foreign and stupid. You have nothing to lose, right? See where it leads you over time. There is ample opportunity in this for your perspectives to change slightly. Things may become more bearable, or even good....
