I think I have a stupid question.

When I use the copy & paste thing, I can paste what I copied anywhere and as many times as I want. But when the computer is rebooted, is what I had copied erased? I sure hope so cause I share the computer with another co-worker.

You are correct. If you want to be real safe though just copy some random file you dont care about, like say a blank text document or just some random text.

I dunno a way to get microsoft word free (that is legal anyways), I do know about a piece of software that will work....
This software is free, open source and should be able to read all Microsoft work formats, except the latest ones......

So if ya wana try it out just click tha link. Be sure ta check the system requirments before dling and installing it..

Hey Z, I was just wondering if you knew how to help me with a new problem. My PC was running a bit slow and so I went and paid for Norton Security. While trying to download it and install it, it told me that I needed to install Windows Service Pack 2. I tried that, but when it went to install it informed my that I don't have a genuine copy of Windows on my PC. Is the only way to solve this problem to buy an entire new windows program?

Thanks Iris

First of all you should return Norton, if at all possible, and get a refund. The two best options I would give you would be AVG free or windows live onecare. Windows live onecare costs about the same as norton, yearly, but does a whole ton more.

Where did you get your computer from? Do you still have the original documentation and cds? Check on the side, back and front of your computer, you should have a sticker that says microsoft windows xp license, it will have your license code on it.

I am getting ahead of myself though...

Did it actually say your version of windows was invalid or did it ask you to register with microsoft to verify it was valid?

There are many ways to solve your problem, hopefully none of them will involve money.

What I need you to do right away though is go to http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg ... ee-edition
Download the free edition, install it and do a scan.

you should also install http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php and do a scan for spyware...

Of course the reason that your pc is running slow may not at all be related to spyware or a virus. If these scans dont help we will look at other options.

Well this was written on the fly before my next class so do forgive me if I forgot anything.

Please expand on "wouldn't let me install them" Do you mean that you cannot install the programs because you are still using windows xp service pack 1?

if that is the case I think I can find you some older versions of avg which should work with windows xp sp1.

I cant believe I didnt think to ask this sooner but where exactly did you get your pc and the os from? If it was from someone like hp or dell you should be able to get things cleared up with a few phone calls. If you bought the pc second hand or had a relative build it for you it is possible that they installed an pirated version of windows onto the pc or something went wrong during installation.

my computer has gone weird zets...

it was all fine and dandy and doin what it should... then i went to plug in my camera usb so i could send a photo and so i pulled out the usb for my webcam and the computer switched itself off.
so i switched it back on and tried to plug the usb back in... but soon as i did it switched itself off again.

then i pulled out my headphones usb and thing switched off again. grrr.

now my comp wont recognise my headphones are plugged in... i went to my control panel to try and change sound settings but as it wont recognise the headphones usb is plagged in it doesnt show up as an option... so only shows the computer speakers :(

why has it gone all weird zets?
