Default Laptop help

Is it possible to delete ALL memory on a laptop? I'm getting rid of my laptop and i'm quite paranooid about people finding out what sites i have been on. I know how to delete cookies and browser history but i want it gone off the computer entirely. Does any one know if i restore the computer to it's factory settings will this also delete everything on the memory?
Thanks

Sorry i don't quite understand. Is reformatting the same as restoring it to it's factory settings?

If you want to make drive information it must be erased. Doing a restore on a hard drive doesnt overwrite the information thats there. I should know, I make a living at computer service. You need a program that will wipe the drive. I suggest Eraser. Its free.

Reformatting is good enough. No one can really gain what was last on your computer, unless they're advance computer users, highly unlikely; even if you use Eraser it won't ever get rid of the information completely. You literally will need to break it to get rid of it.
