i think its more along the lines of more and more people don't care.
with all the scientific advancements seemingly happening every month, plus in articles online writen up about x discovery or x new tech it almost always says "scientists have"... in the modern world breakthroughs are done by groups of people, instead of just one person... would be alot of names to remember
plus not many of these advances seem to be anything new, only just improving on what we already have. none are really life changing..
well, only thing i noticed is we are learning how to use stem cells better and possible "organ printing" and the 3D printers that can produce edible meals.
but ofcourse, it'll be a long time before we see those things being used.
i think what we need are people like neil degrasse tyson, more "science communicators" to get people interested in science.
atleast thats my take :)
