I have been meaning to start leaning to code, but i find I am really busy and have little time. I am planning to start with c++ and see where I go from there. Are you going to release your usenet client an an Open source project?

Well, i cant really release it, as i havent got the proper licenses for all the components i use... That wasnt originally the plan, but most of the free alternatives (Talking about good-looking user interface now) didnt look as good as the paid ones.

I assume you already have some programming skills, since you want to start with C++? (Its really difficult :P)
I use VB.NET

I have not done much programming but I am confident in by ability to learn this language. I have done a little reading in some books and I don't think there will be any issue. I will also be learning Python at the same time.

I will be using open source tools to dev my projects and they will be primarily written for Linux operating systems, as I really only use windows for gaming.

Whilst commercial offerings are often cosmetically better, I prefer to use open source variations.

I installed linux (debian) on my laptop and would like to learn some programming in c++, java, or something. Don't now how to start. I had some C once but don't know too much about object oriented stuff.

Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.
