Conspiracy theories .....
Just interested to see what other people make on the above subject .
There was a report lately that people that suffer from depression , are more likely to believe that they are true .
I personally have read and seen things that make me believe some of what's been said, to the point of it sucking me in and making me concious of it all the time .
J :)

I've recently been getting into that, because of my own problems with "I don't know." It stemmed from not knowing what I want, what I feel, what I think, what I believe, etc. And a lot of conspiracies are interesting but I don't believe them all. It's interesting to question everything, because although I tend to accept what people tell me, I don't trust them/their motives etc.
Like the moon landings, I have no idea. Diana, I think there was more to that. 9/11, I think there was MUCH more to that but let's not eh? HAARP I find possible but I don't think I truly believe or disbelieve any particular conspiracy theories, or even facts. What we are told and presented with, by friends, family, media, are automatically assumed to be true, and believed. But news are stories. Stories change from teller to listener, to listener to listener. What starts as someone getting skimmed by the air of a car ends up as a murder attempt.
But that;s just me and my "depression" etc. I struggle with everything, so that probably explains by lack of acceptance or rejection of these things.
Fascinating subject though. I like learning of possible corruptions and anything farfetched *cough*scientology*cough*

For me it depends on the individual conspiracy theory. Physical evidence, confessions and testimonials, paper trails, a sizable profit margin, something solid must be present before I'll investigate the subject.
What ppl don't often get is that theory doesn't mean wild unprovable idea. ex: Newton's laws of physics and Einstein's theory of relativity. Einstein wasn't wrong just because its not called the Law of Relativity....
I'm from NY and in regards to all the conspiracy theories flying around about 9/11... Imagine the damage if either or both towers fell over on its side rather then down on itself. Is it so impossible to consider large buildings in densely populated areas could be rigged to collapse on themselves rather then take out a city block? Thing is, how safe and comfy would ppl be working in a building wired with explosives? We're conditioned to fear things that blow up (aside from pyrotechnics at rock shows) and as such we don't want to enter a building that is wired... so the property owners/city couldn't tell us about it. Extremely large buildings should be set to collapse on themselves to mitigate property damage and loss of life in the event of a disaster. It is the responsible thing to do for the neighborhood but it sure do make the locals twitchy.
A wired building can explain what physically happened with the towers, the evidence for the use of thermite was all over ground zero.
The why's involve the conspiracy part.
Why do people do anything ever?
Answer: someone or something benefits from it. You eat, you live. You pet your dog, it gets happy. Invest in a prosperous company, get rich. Following that very simple logic ask who benefited from 9/11. ex: Larry Silverstein received 7 billion dollars in insurance money and got out of removing all the asbestos from the towers which would have cost him a billion. Look at all the big brother legislation and military spending during the Bush admin.
There's that 9/11 Coincidences vid on youtube; part 11 is interesting.
Flight 93 left debris up to 8 miles away, a neat trick for a plane that crashed straight down into loose soil. People on the ground say it banked, some heard a bang, some heard the engines not sounding right before it tanked. The hijackers said they had a bomb on board. It does appear the plane was in some kind of distress before it crashed.

depends on the conspiracy.I don't think that Cheny is a shape shifting lizard but understand why people would easilly think he is...Elvis is in fact dead..so is poor MJ,Government sucks but it isnt illuminatti lol..and 9-11 was tragic and wouldnt have happened if Bush had been on the ball..so he is to blame in that sense!..well.most .conspiracies have a bit of truth to them...even cheny..he probably does have some lizard dna.lol.

This thread would be more fun if we were talking about one specific theory ;) Maybe we should have a thread for each one lol.

In my view most of them, if not all, are just rubbish.

Imo just about everything in politics is bullshit and has some plot behind it.
