Default Nature or nurture?

Hey I don't know where to post this, I know it's a sticky debate- I don't want to offend anyone, but I was just wondering if anyone knew of any research that has been published on depression being diagnosed to a parent/s and then there Child/ren?

It's for some research I'm doing, links would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of any specific studies unfortunately.

My own opinion is depression can be hereditery.

Good luck with your project!

Thanks for your reply. Yeah my Mum suffered from mental illnesses when I was a kid and I'm just trying to work out what I think...

I remember I did a research project on this before. I'll try and find some of the info I used, but from what I read, I think it's really just a combination of both. I believe getting depressed from your own experiences, aka nurture, is responsible for most depression relation issues. But there's also physiological reasons for being depressed which I'm sure you could find a study pretty easily if your still interested. But then there are the situations that cause the chemical imbalances.

Here's a link I found that was pretty interesting:

Ah thank you :) Yeah it's for a research paper for my degree, still trying to refine my question but definitely interested in this area. I have to find 10 relevant previous research... off to Google!
