The First Manned Moon Landing: Real Or Fake?

I will post my opinions later just gotta get my ducks in a row. Was it really just about beating Russia or do you believe men actually went up there on Apollo 11 in 1969?

About beating Russia. How come every space craft with people that they e tried to send since then has strangely exploded?? But they miraculously succeeded 43 years ago ? I thought technology was suppose to advance as years go by

Xerxes 12-16-12 07:24 AM

Not every spacecraft exploded.
and with that thing people talk about, the flag waving from a breeze, if you filmed it in a studio or warehouse or whatever why would you open everything up to let a breeze through?

then again, i wasn't there when it happened...

Mythbusters

This show Mythbusters, (I'm sure you've heard of it.) Proved that the real video could not be copied on a set. The sun made the shadows at the correct time, and a lot of other factors proved it was'nt fake. I don't know if there's anything there, but it could be on their website or youtube or something.

The Russians launched a sattallite into orbit named sputnik. Maybe because of the Cold War and all, the Americans thought they should prove themselves to be more advanced by going all the way to the moon.

First... excellent movie from the 70's:
Capricorn One (1977) - IMDb

And second... yes, it was real.

Mythbusters is a great show. Here are their findings:
MythBusters Episode 104: NASA Moon Landing

You can also see youtube videos of the shows, which show how they arrived at their conclusions.

Also, technology does advance but there is still always a risk of failure. I would imagine that space flight comes with a lot of risks.

Megan909 12-16-12 09:19 AM

yeah, just looked at what happened to the Apollo 13. Plus it costs a hell of a lot of money to send men back to the moon or even send a satallite into space.

I will look at the mythbusters, but I'm not so convinced they wouldn't sell out to keep a lid on it being fake, for most Americans it's one of the most inspiring things that ever happened. I believe it was filmed in Area 51 where they had all the privacy to do whatever they wanted. Still good special effects for back in those days I guess. Take a look at this though, even former NASA workers and scientists have doubts and some say it would have been impossible.

Hmmmm- I totally believe that the moon landing was real- however, I suspect NASA might have doctored some of the pics to make them 'sexier.'
