Just started STM32 programming a few months ago.
Still a lot to learn, and with my stress from my marriage I haven't been able to do much recently, but it's going pretty well. There's still hope I can get away from here and start working again. I really hope to get a job, especially in programming as I know I'm really good at it. Unfortunately, the stress living here is a huge hurdle to my learning and concentration. Erf!

Anyway, one thing I bought recently was a NewHaven 20x4 display, but unfortunately nothing is working at the moment. The example code is a little weird (for a different MPU with a different coding style), but I'm sure I'll get it figured out. It's the first thing that I'm only using the datasheet for and really really trying to keep from asking for help on it.

What I have planned, is writing a game for my son with the stm32 nucleo board I bought with it. I'll use a 8 bit shift register to wire up two LCD's, one for the game, and one for the text/info/errors. With the data pins connected directly to the shift register and the RS and E pins connected directly to the board. Still, have to get this LCD working first. Else it'd be pointless to attempt that, heh.

First things first, though. I need to calm down...I need to relax and get my mind back on task...Yeesh! Why is loneliness with someone so much worse than loneliness when you're alone? Make up your mind, you bloody mind...HA HA!

good luck!

let us know how it goes

Turns out it's a little more complicated than I thought. For some odd reason, simplifying the code makes the LCD not work (And this is after testing with an LCD I know works). My mind really hasn't been up to the task of programming at the moment, so maybe I'm just missing something. Will attempt using the old source I have for the 1602A and see if that doesn't get it up and running once my mind can hack it.

Sounds like a cool little project.
