weight loss surgery

Not sure if this belongs here, but whatever.

For the first time the idea of getting weight loss surgery occurred to me the other day. I'm not HUGE but I've long battled with my weight. Four times in my life I managed to lose 50+ pounds in a short period of time only to gain it all back (and then some). I've had a few other times I've lost 15-30 pounds that I couldn't keep off. I've been hovering around 300 pounds (my heaviest ever) for about a year now and it's gotten to the point where I really doubt I'll ever drop the weight.

I read recently that most people with a BMI of 35 or higher with another health condition are eligible to have surgery covered by their insurance (obviously depends on the insurance); and most people with a BMI of 40+, regardless of other health conditions, are eligible. My BMI is 40, and I have a history of high blood pressure (my BP is a bit high right now but is not being treated). My insurance is fairly new and I don't even have a primary care physician so I don't know where to start but I really think this could be my last option.

Anyone else ever looked into this?

Consult with a doctor... They would be more of a help to you.
