Freelancing

Due to being bound to bed for years, two years ago I decided to get into freelancing. I am interested if anyone else here works as a freelancer? It is so rare to meet someone that does and share some opinions and ideas.

I've been freelance for about 25 years but I don't work from home - I work on client sites

I work from home as a Contract Employee. My focus is on software for law enforcement, government and any agency that needs to find fraud, terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime, crime analysis and insurance fraud.

I like what I do, but you really need to get the specific expectations (job description) nailed before you ink the contract as well as when you get paid. Make sure you leave room for evaluation of your work and new responsibilities, which should include additional pay.

I thought I was going to be doing marketing, content, research the total available market and get those contacts and write technical documents for proposals. Now I am cold calling and following up on leads. I don't want to do sales, although I am good at it. But you need to get things spelled out in your contact, and make sure you can do it.
