Mother's Day

Tomorrow will be the 7 year anniversary of my grandmother's death. Her funeral was on Mother's Day. Mother's Day has never really been the same for me since. It was really hard moving on from her death. She was the one person I could go to and get advice. She never judged me and she always listened to what I had to say. I wish I could hear her voice again and hear her advice because I really need her here. Everyone keeps telling me that I haven't really lost her, but I don't believe that's true anymore. She's gone and I'll never see her again.

I understand about your loss, more then you may know. My heart felt sympathies and condolences to you. No, it will never be the same again... and you will most likely always feel grief especially with her death on this conspicuous holiday in the USA. It doesn't let you forget, and the fact of it being Mothers' Day for the holiday kind of kicks you while you are down.

Thank you hottea and delta...

I was really starting to get to know her when she died. We had moved around so many times that she rarely came down to visit. She did come a couple of times but it was very infrequent because my grandpa was getting to the point where he couldn't take care of himself. He never came down to visit (my grandpa).

I am so glad you had time to get to know her before she left this world. I have 4 living grandparents, and I have done nothing worthy of mention for getting to know them. I don't live near them but that's something easily enough remedied by me, when you get right down to it. I regret never having chosen to go know them better and I am glad you did that for yourself. It takes effort but seems to enrich all the people I have run across who had grandparent relationships. I think it can give you a sense of history, a sense of where you came from. I admire your having invested into that relationship before it was out of your reach. I know it is hard remembering the loss. I have my own personal loss on May 10th, and I wish you all the peace that life and love can bring.

Be well,
~Hottea

Today is going all right so far. I'm just listening to "Wake me up when September Ends" by Green Day. My dad and I never really talk about it for some reason. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm the only person who misses and remembers her.

Well, my grandfather did. Her death really broke him. He sobbed at her funeral, it was the first time I had ever seen a man cry. After that, it really went downhill. He pretty much lost the will to live and was hospitalized for various complaints. He died ten months to the day that she died. He died on March 10, she died May 10.
