Can anyone relate?

I have had major concerns with people and the things they do and the evolving modern world. The frustration comes from my own perception of physical appearance. I feel that my repulsive appearance to the world means I don't get listened to, my opinions aren't as valid as others and instantly get shot down anything I try to say. it is as if I have no part to play in life because of this. I am intelligent enough to realise that beauty does take you further in life etc but I am feeling more and more everyday this need to loath myself just because of appearance. I also realise many may say this is a cry for attention and to be told oh you are beautiful blah blah blah but I have more than accepted myself I hate that others cant and then place less value on my role in society.

Does anyone else feel like this?

I can really relate to this.

For example, in school, I had my first heartbreak. We were together for eight months before I found out he was cheating. The girl he was seeing had been with him no more than six weeks. But she went crying to MY group of friends about it. When I talked about it, they told me to "let it gooo!" and "moooove oooon!" But she would cry to them about it and they would listen to her! I said "she was only with him for six weeks, tops!" They said "well different people are affected by the same thing differently.":frown:

WTF?

So then why are they so exasperated with me for being upset, if different people are affected by the same thing differently? Wouldn't that include me?

That's just one of many examples. I have examples from school, from work, etc. throughout life.

That's why I'm such a loner and a hermit now.

Yes, probably the biggest regret I have about growing up was not completely realizing the subtle importance of status. This article might help in figuring why you feel people treat you differently.

Why do I have high or low social status?
