Doodles - Advice?
So here's the rub: Drawing is cathartic. I mean, like whoa. But the resistance I have toward sitting down and doing it is horrendous. I'm lucky if I manage to doodle 2 days out of the year. Then there's the self-criticism; I wouldn't hate what I make if I did it regularly and could bypass that cold-start phase.
Does anyone have any solid advice for this issue? Much appreciated.
Meantime, here're some tings:
Ink brush and markers.
Pencils & Ink. Then scissors. Then more ink.
An unreliable BIC pen. Randomly came across the quote, kinda dug it.
Colored pencils. Definitely overworked the smudging.
Pencil - Had to invert color to make it visible.
Pastel w/ some ink scratched in. I remember realizing that there's a way to use pastels, and I didn't know what it was.
Love the work! All the different mediums, which is your favorite to work with?
Hey, I just wanted to ask how do you post pictures, I wan‘t to share some too. Btw I‘m on phone so it wont load pictures, promise I will take a look as soon as I get my hands on my laptop
Pastels: I didn't have a fun time with because they're difficult to handle for small detail.
Color Pencils: A big set is cheap, and color gradients are a cinch. The drawback is that I have to lay it on thick.
Markers: I purchased a five pack of Pitt Artist Pens. The colors are vibrant, it's easy to variate line width, and smudging is relatively clean. All in all, I say markers are great. I'd love to step it up with a set of Copics... But they're $$$.
Ink: Big fan. I prefer the finesse of an ink brush--wide lines to the smallest details, and handy for filling in large areas.
Last, I have yet to try paints. What I love most about drawing is the process of discovery, and the series of abstract problems and solutions that come about for rendering things visually. Painting strikes me as an infinite medium full of discovery.
If I ever fall into making things regularly, I feel like painting will become my favorite.
I didn't see any way to upload photos directly, so I jumped over to Photobucket.
It takes two seconds to register via Facebook. Upload to Photobucket - Copy the 'Direct Link' - . All set.
