Nailbiting
 

For as long as I can remember, I've been a nailbiter. I'm able to let my nails grow (I have for the last 3 months actually) but now I've been biting them again. I'm assuming this is reltaed to anxiety. But I'm not always anxious when I do it, I don't think. Unless I'm anxious 24/7. I do it out of habit. But, if I'm able to let them grow, then it can't possibly be out of habit, right? I really don't know what to make of this. If I'm not biting my nails, I'm biting my lip. It's just an oral thing I suppose.

Is anyone else a nailbiter? Or does anyone have an oral fixation due to anxiety?

im a nail biter.. i wont even let them grow..as soon as the white starts to show i bite it off.
i reckon i prob have some kinda oral fixation... if i aint biting my nails im sucking my thumb or little finger.. or im chewing on a pen lid, or got the end of a pen in my mouth. i dont know if its anxiety or habit.

it's an anxious habit, lol; habitual anxiety.

I'ts like chewing gum or or cracking your knuckles, a subconcious habit to release tension. Just Dr. Tigg's opinion.

And Dr. Tigg's, how do you suppose I go about getting rid of the habit? And don't tell me to get rid of the anxiety. :razz:

One weird thing I do is shake my arm. Idk why really. I think I may have a slight case of OCD with certain things. lol
