Default What mess can be prescribed for BPD?

I recently opened up to my therapist about something after a year of therapy, and I was informed that in conjunction to my depression I have Borderline Personality Disorder.

I am currently on Zoloft (200 mg) and Wellbutrin (I'm not sure of the dosage, but it's small).

Will my meds be switched because of this diagnosis?

I guess your doc will tell you that if you ask them. When are you seeing them next time?

When i was diagnosed with BPD I was already taking an antidepressant (venlafaxine 150mg) and a mood stabiliser (lamotrigine 50mg). After my diagnosis they took me off the venlafaxine and increased the lamotrigine to 100mg. Within two weeks of stopping the venlafaxine I was back on it again though because I was really suicidal and was about to act on it. Their reason for stopping the venlafaxine? Apparently I wasn't depressed so didn't need it.

I was later discharged from the psychiatrist as she said meds aren't used to treat BPD, and that talking therapy will be what helps. And I was just told to keep taking my meds at the same dose for a year and see the GP rather than her.

But, this is something you are only going to find out when you see your doctor, as everyone is different. Try not to worry, just take it as it comes. I didn't like my psychiatrist at all, but hopefully you have better experiences.
