Default Positive Medicine Stories?

Reading some of the stories on here makes me feel hopeless about changing my medicine. I mean, I know therapy goes along with meds. & I'm willing to do that, but I'm wondering how many people have SUCCESSFUL stories on here! Please, does anyone?!?

I'm assuming you mean to treat depression? I don't think anything can take away all the depression, but I had the best results with Zoloft & Welbutrin. My mother has been on Effexor XR for a couple of years and it's worked so well for her she's now ready to go off of them. It didn't work well for me though. Each person reacts differently to the meds....may I ask what you're taking now?

I'm on Zoloft. I've been on the same dosage for about three years and on the drug itself for around six years after having gone off of it once before.

I'm sure there are MANY positive stories of meds helping folks. It's so true what Mousey says that everyone reacts differently- unfortunately you have to go through some trial and error sometime.

Topamax saved my life- after 1 1/2 got spent on me. I tried Wellbutrin VERY BAD (and I mean bad) hives. I tapered off the topamax and now just take a small dose of klonopin each day. I love the stuff and it's worked wonders for me.

YMMV (your mileage may vary). Unfortunately if the zoloft is getting kicked it may be time to try something else.

Best of luck to ya.

Pete

Hi Tavern4.
I tend to do pretty well with meds. Few side effects.
Wellbutrin seemed to work well for me... tho I just stopped taking it after a year and a half... no reason...
(tho it may have made my other disorder worse without my knowing it...)
And now I'm on other meds bc I found out my problem wasn't depression at all... it was BP disorder...
Zoloft made me cycle quite a bit... I got off that rather quickly...
So I'm on Lactimal and Topamax... for BP... and they work great.. I am pretty stable now... still finalizing dosage... but I'm so much better than I was 6 and 10 months ago...
and able to deal with therapy stuff... without the mood swings...
the therapy stuff is hard enough on its own... :)
Meds can work... You need to make sure your pdoc listens though...
and if your med stops working, then perhaps it is time to try a new one...
:)
