Default Depression and Vicodins

I've been Depressed and have taken Vicodin's for 10+ years from a back operation. For over 5 years I've taken Vicodins, about 2 or 3 per day for depression and just not feeling well and some for the back. This might be hard to believe but I'm not physically or mentally addicted to Vicodins. I ONLY take them if I'm severely depressed or don't feel well and I don't feel well everyday. A couple of month ago I took some anti depression meds and by some miracle I felt almost normal for 5 days and during those 5 days I did not take any Vicodins nor did I want to take any. Why don't I feel well. Loneliness, I'm 67 so no job, my relationship, no friends, don't like where I live and the list goes on. All my test form my doctor came in OK so if I can find out why I'm feeling so lousy everyday I wouldn't need the Vicodins excepts 2 or 3 pills each week when my back feels bad enough to take one and I could maybe take something else for the back soreness. My neighbor of 81 said he doesn't remember the last time he felt good and he takes strong pain pills for all his problems. I've started taking Wellbutrin a week ago and outside of a wasted stomach I'll see what happens.

It doesn't sound like taking Vicodin is a good solution, no.. Let us know how it goes with Wellbutrin? It usually takes a couple of weeks for antidepressants to work, so you may need to wait for a while to know if it helps... Your doctor is following up on you, right? Just want to make sure that you're safe...

Thank you and your right about Vicodin is not a good solution but for now it's Vicodin or more suffering. I hope and am working on a solution not to take them anymore.

Let us know how it goes? I hope they will work for you. Are you going to therapy as well?
