Default Anyone taking mirtazapine ?

Hello, is anyone taking mirtazapine I've been taking it for nearly a month and I still feel tired through the day even though I sleep at night.
Does the tiredness ever go?
Thanks

Hi Mel,
My own experience was that it didn't - I was a complete zombie even after 6 months... But it might get better for you.
THough, I wouldn't recommend this med, Iäve found many who didn't like it either.

When I was taking mirtazapine, I took it at night and found that the drowsiness got better and better each day. After about a week I could function normally.

I used to take it and i actually enjoyed the sedative effect, it never personally went away for me. Can you take it earlier? Maybe that would be better suited for you? Good luck!

I take it along with zoloft and abilify and while occasionally feel tired I can't do without it at night for sleep.

Hi, I've been taking it for over a year. The others are right, take it at night and you will get the bonus of sleeping really well. I started out on 15mg, I take half a pill now, I often take it with a benzo, that combination is great if you suffer from insomnia. Can't really say it has helped me with depression though.

Hi, Thanks for your replys, I take it about 10 o'clock at night but it doesn't see me through the night ,I still get early morning awakenings, I have been on it for 37 days, of which 9 of those days on the upped dose which I don't think it is working or I am not giving it long enough.
I have no motivation at all but I am sure I did when taking the lower dose, I have had lots of side effects on the higher dose.

Mel,

This may not make much sense but I remember my doctor told me that it is a low dose of this drug that makes you sleep well, for some reason at higher doses you lose the deep sleep effect.

I know this thread is like way old, but thank God I found it.

I was prescribed this medicine a week ago and thought I was the only one who had the tired effect. I don't really mind it though, cos I haven't had a goods night sleep in sooo long, and finally this gives me the tiredness I need to sleep.

For months I just couldnt get tired, the doc didn't/doesnt know whats wrong, so I'm glad I was prescribed this, as sleeping pills were'nt really working on me.
