Default Please help. Need advice on colon cancer :(

So, a couple months ago, my boyfriend admitted to me that when he'd been going to the toilet (number 2) there had been blood. I was worried but he made it seem as not such a big deal. Either way, I told him to go to the doctor to check it out. He was not keen on the idea at all, as he was obviously scared of what it may be, and because he doesn't like the way those sorts of things are "checked out" by doctors. These two things caused him to be hesitant in going. However last night, after I asked if he still had the problem, he admitted he had visited the doctor a couple weeks ago, and they did some tests, and found a lump on his bowel area.. :'( they said they'd get back to him and they should be getting back to him this week. He said they said its most probably nothing serious..but they could have been saying that to not worry him, right? That's all he told me, as he was emotional while he was saying it- and so was I. Words do not describe how worried I am. I don't want to eat, sleep or do anything. I want to know and I want him to be ok. My life without him would not be worth living :( I just know I'll never find anyone like him. We've only been dating for a short time now- but we've known each other and been friends for years and years. And I love him :(Please, anyone, is there ANYTHING else those symptoms can mean besides any type of colon cancer or any cancer for that matter? Keep in mind blood in his stool is the only symptom he's been having. He's not said anything of feeling sick, vomiting, feeling tired, stomach pain etc. He's lost a lot of weight, but that's been stretched out over a year and a half and it's because of his new job where he works and sweats a lot. Please please does anyone have any advice? :(

I'm sorry it's so long but if anyone has the time of day to read and reply, I'd appreciate it so much.

It could also be inflammatory bowel disease for one thing, there are other possibilities here. On your profile, I see that you're fairly young - it's very unlikely that your boyfriend would have cancer if he's close to your age. If the medical staff said that it was probably nothing, I would trust them on that. I know that in many situations, they're not supposed to lie to their patients in order to make them feel better, because it would likely make things worse in the long run if there was actually a problem.

I would say there's nothing to worry about at this point, and worrying isn't going to fix anything anyways. It's really touching that you love him so much. :) Instead of worrying about him, turn that negative energy into positive energy by doing something special for him!

Thank you so much for the link. I'm reading in to the Inflammatory Bowel Disease page- but other than that, the only one that seemed to fit him most is Colon Cancer

But thank you for your reply - and yes, he is the same age as me, nineteen.
I definitely need to try to set out more positive energy rather than worry and stress. I'd still like to know more though

Try webmd.com for symptoms...

Blood in Stool: Causes and Diagnosis

This is no substitution for a medical diagnosis, but I hope it helps
