Unhappy OAP in Pain!

I have always managed to have quite an active life despite being spinabifida but in the last 10 years or so my back has become more and more painful. Added to that I have pains in my shoulders and arms which makes trying to do the slightest bit of housework very difficult and, more to the point, puts me into a great deal of agony.
I take Co-codamol and Naproxen which only helps to dull the pain but first thing in the morning when I know I have to face that pain barrier to get out of bed really makes me feel like giving up sometimes!!! ..
I do try to remember that at least I have had a reasonable life unlike some in other countries that are really starving etc. but as more old age problems increase it gets harder and harder.

Just wanted to have a bit of a rant really...
Isn't life a beetch sometimes!?!!

I'm so sorry. (hugs) Hang in there. Pain is the worst.

Hi Prue23,

I'm really sorry you're in pain. I wish I could say I can understand, but I've never experienced chronic physical pain. Mental pain, yeah, I can relate to :=]

I hope and pray it gets easier for you, rather than harder and harder.

For what it's worth, I really really value having older people in my life. All my grandparents are dead. I do have a good friend who's in his 70s and I really value his company. There's something inherently respectable about being old and wise or even old and cantankerous :=]

I'm sorry, that may not have made a lot of sense and I certainly didn't mean to be offensive. Take care.

Thankyou so much for your replies.
I am very pleased to be able to say that since my posting I decided that the CoCodamol really wasn't having much affect even tho' I was increasing the dosage. It was also making me extremely uncomfortable with the side effects of being very constipated. So I stopped taking them and went back to the paracetamol. I had about a week where I was in agony but then very surprised to find that not being so dozy I was now able to move around more which in turn has decreased the pain somewhat. I have also been having deep tissue massages every week which is helping enormously!
I am absolutely gobsmacked at the difference in my lifestyle now. In such a short period of time I have been able to turn things around for the better.
In the meantime..I do thank you all for my being able to rant on about my feelings on this forum..
