Default Hi fed up with physical health

So I'm new here, I am wondering how people cope with there physical health been rubbish?
I have a ruptured ACL that the hospital two years down the line have still done nothing about, and my patella is not in the correct place. This leads to my knee locking in place which is extremely painful and limited what I can do - I'm on crutches.
I also have old spinal fractures which cause long-term pain, but that limits me too.

Hey Disabledguy.
Welcome to the forums.

I hope your pain is at least not constant.
It really sucks and I suppose there may be mental techniques to getting over it.
I tried guided meditation from YouTube as to dealing with pain, and as I recall it helped a little. It serves as a distraction and helps as a reframing of the mind around how to feel about pain. It's not a cure, but it's certainly one way to cope. I don't remember what I listened to but just looking it up, you'll likely find results that are similar to what I found.

Another way of looking at it that I might not necessarily subscribe to, but if nothing else, pain can give you a unique perspective of life that might help you consider things that others wouldn't, like solutions to certain problems. For example I'm sure many people in wheelchairs would have a lot of ideas for how to make society more accessible. It's probably annoying to always have to wheel over and press those buttons to open automated doors, for example, and there's probably a way to make those systems better.

May I ask what you are trying to achieve that pain is making difficult? Focusing on that can also help as a distraction, but I suppose that can depend on how bad the pain really is. If pain is all you can ever think about then I would at least consider medicine that reduces pain, but I would imagine you already have. Doctors really should do whatever they can other than just give you pain meds so that they can cure the actual things that are causing your pain and I hope that will also happen for you in the near future.
