Default Doing a Colon Cleanse next week.

Next week I start 5 days of colon cleanses again. I have IBS and it is the only thing that has helped me along the way. I think I was around 35 years old the first time I went, I just got fed up with the pain and gas. The doctor gave me some pills for the pain. It took 1 5 day visit and then a month later a 3 day visit before I completed my cleanse. The best I felt in years!

My IBS has showed up again. I'm in pain and have gas. Not to bad but I now know I'm due for a cleanse. So starting again next week. I'll be on a liquid diet only also. Not looking forward to that! But here I go again.

Colon cleanse, is that different to colonic irrigation, or am I being an idiot and the're both the same thing.
Anyway what I was going to say was in the UK there is a tv program called embarasing bodies (I don't know if you get it in Canada) and there was a woman on that, who used to do it to herself at home. How she managed it herself I'll never know.
Some usless info for you there.

Good for you TM! Especially if you struggle with IBS, doing the colon cleanse stuff can be very helpful and rejuvenating. I have known other people who have Crohn's disease as their specific IBS, and they also mentioned that the colon cleanse was helpful as a treatment occasionally.

It was life changing. I was pretty desperate at the time to find a solution to my problem. My friggin doctor gave me PILLS for the pain. That's how bad things were. Now I don't need pills. But every so often I have to go for colon cleanses. Only thing I can do.

Well, Tempered, Basically, you just get hooked up to a machine, with a hose to your butt. Water goes in and out and it cleans your colon from the inside.

Well, I can't eat solid foods for the next week either and today I had my first cleanse and went well. Haven't had solid foods for 24 hours, just water, clear juices, and some broth. Drinking lots of water also.

It's the only thing that has helped my IBS so what can I do? So far so good.

I had an enema once (I call it the buttdouche) at the Hospital For Sick Children. It was basically like holding in a gigantic tank of ... fluids. Not much different from like the feeling you get when you have diarrhea. The colon is just like "Get yo'self to a toilet, homeseph, 'cause I ain't holding this shit in no more. NO MORE."

Had to waddle over to the toilet afterwards as the painful cramps (though no worse than what I'm used to, really) threatened to leak the fluids upon the floor. Though for when the colon is particularly inflamed, the pain can feel like... well, like you're not gonna get back up for days.

My body was strong. And ready.

The main reason they did it was to have a clean view of my insides with a super scope, so they could decide if my treatment was working... though I think what happens during the colonoscopy preparation is usually telling enough of what kind of horrible stuff they're gonna see in the aftermath. If I can't handle the cleanse, then there's definitely something wrong with the treatment. *shrug*

I hope your treatment works well again this time and that is isn't too difficult to deal with.

Water in the butt sounds good. I wonder if it has to be pH balanced or contain electrolytes. Probably they just use saline..

Have heard various rumors of coffee enemas, which don't sound particularly healthy. I wonder if one can OD on caffeine doing that. Death can easily result from alcohol enemas, so folks should be cautious on what's pumped up this exit port.

Livestrong has an article on colon cleansing with epsom salts. There, I wonder if magnesium absorption would also cause diarrhea.

Just some random thoughts and warnings to others..

Yeah, Tempered I agree got to be careful with this stuff. I don't like to go for these treatments really but do if things get bad. I don't know if there's any salt in the water. But I'm also taking orally Bentonite Clay and Psyhillium husks. I also taking Chlorophyll, vitamin C, flaxseed oil and potassium all orally suppose to help with the cleanse. Maybe not for everyone but it works for me.
