Default Constipated

OMG! I've been constipated on and off for the last 6 months. IDK what to do.

In July I went to the emergency room and had to get an enema. I got all 3 ways done.

I was so friggin bloated at the time when I went to the emergency room reception, the lady asked me if I was in labour. I told her I wasn't pregnant...she looked shocked.

Anyway, the emergency room doctor had access to an xray I did the week before for my general doctor. He basically said I was full of poop. His words. I was pissed my general doctor didn't get a hold of me.

I've been suffering for months on and off. At one point it cleared up. Then it came back.

My general doctor was monitoring me weekly then it went to monthly. AT one point it cleared up but now it's back again.

I mean I look friggin pregnant and I can't get into my jeans and I feel horrible because I have this weight/bloat wherever I go.

I'm tired of taking Restoralax, fiber, psyillium husks, prune juice and water.

So, tomorrow once again I have to go to a medi clinic.

My general doctor told me to go to emergency if I throw up. I've come close but haven't thrown up yet. Plus when I eat food, I can't eat a full meal because of the bloat I can only eat half of what I use too, I think because I'm so bloated. My DR trying to make an appointment with the specialist but it could take me up to a year before I get in. Just the way the Canadian health care system works.

I have to admit when I cleared up I didn't keep taking the Restoralax, psyillium husks and prune juice.

I give up. I'm tired of this misery. I just want to go to the bathroom like a normal person.

When I cleared up I couldn't figure out why I got better except the only difference is that I started swimming and going to the gym. So now I've headed back to the gym. But I think I have Atlete's foot from the pool.

I just can't win.

So anyone have advice????? How do I survive this???

I also thought I had a yeast infection so I took some yeast infection pills and after that I noticed I bloated again. I wonder what's going on . I forgot to add I'm also taking probiotics and yogurt. Activia yogurt too seems to help.

I'm tired of being uncomfortable, bloated. I'm tired.

Hi, sorry to hear you are having these problems. I don't have them, quite the opposite actually, but my grandmother used to suffer a lot. She always used to drink cups of dandelion root tea whenever she was 'bunged up' as she called it.
Have you tried this? It has been used as a herbal remedy for constipation for centuries, but I don't know how effective it is.

The only other thing I can think of to suggest is Epsom salts

I'm looking for advice. So I'll keep the dandelion tea on my mind as an option. It's just exhausting. I'm gaining about 4 to 6 inches bloat. It feels horrible. IDK. I'm also thinking of going back for acupuncture but I can't afford much. I need help and the general doctor isn't getting me nowhere. Just monitoring me. I missed my appointment last month by accident but at the same time I deflated. I thought it was over. What a mess.

Thanks for the response. But along with the bloating, I get full to quickly also so it's hard for me to get in all the water I need.

I was thinking today just to do a liquid type diet for the day. Soups, waters and juices. Just keep it simple on my system. Thanks.

I am sorry to hear this.

Well here are some tips that i know off, from being in med school.

The reason why it was gone for some time, is the fact that you exercised. Working out improve metabolism overall, and it speeds up the peristaltic (bowel movement). I suggest you to increase physical activity, work out, since not working out, or having really small physical activity can cause constipation.

Shrink fat (obese, greasy, idk how its called in English) food, every "dry food" food that contains small amounts or no water shrink too. Increase fruits and vegetables as much as you can. And of course, like you said, taking increased amount of water helps too.

Also if you can, always try to eat when you are calm, in sense of sitting when you eat and not eating while you are on the way to somewhere.

Hope this helped, but i presume you already heard all of this.

I hope you will recover soon.

Thank you. nsdimitrije. I agree the exercise might be the key for me. I didn't work for over a year and just went back this summer to work I do believe it was the lack of exercise. I have always noticed previously that I would have a Bowel Movement after I biked to work or something or went running. I've known that for years. So having a year off and being the most inactive in my life has caused this is what I figured.

So, I am making an effort to go back to the gym again. This might be key for me. Currently the intensity of my workouts are low because I'm so-o out of shape. Just taking it easy plus for the first time in my life. I don't want to go to the gym and workout. First time in over 30 years I've given up on workouts but I'll try to go again today.

Keep the motivation up !!! I know how much its hard to start working out, its the most bothersome thing to do, actually it just seems that way in start. Once you set up a good pace, once you work out every day, you feel better and better inside out, both body and soul. I know you can do it. You will go to the gym and shape up and hopefully fix your health issue. :)))

Now dont give up, stay motivated, you can do it. Cheering for you !!!

yes. I have to be aware and stay on top of it. I'm still taking Restorelax daily and psyillium husks daily, I also try to take more fiber in my diet.

I think the key for me is exercise. I should be going to the gym more than what I have been. But I think that exercise is helping 'move thing along'. This has been the most inactive I've been in my life. So going to the gym once or twice a week for now. Best I can do with Christmas and overtime at work. I'm tired all the time from night shift.

I'm hoping in January when I switch to day shift I'll be able to work on my health more.

I think exercise is really important for me and taking daily fiber supplements and drinking lots of water. It's helped. But I have to stay on top of it. I seem to have improved a lot.

Start your day with a good yogurt, a glass of prune juice with powered benefiber warm in microwave drink a glass of hot water.
use a preperation H suppository once a day.
That should do it.

no sweets, change your diet, more veggies and salads etc.
Good luck
