Default Self Talk or Mindfulness

Sorry that I've mentioned this before, but I'm seeking a definitive answer.

To combat the voices, should I try mindfulness meditation through the day, try to be present, etc.

Or should I talk to myself to drive them out.

Mindfulness is very hard to do but it seems like a worthy pursuit. They say you can't fight the mind with the mind.

Meanwhile, someone said talking to yourself helps you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Both can help, but i would try mindfulness meditation first.

Thanks! I'm glad someone found my thread. I will continue with mindfulness meditation.

Seems more reasonable, mindfulness meditation then arguing with voices, at least to me. But in fact i believe that any of those can help.

You're right, it does sound more reasonable. Thanks again.

You wrote you were seeking a definitive answer, maybe this one will make some definitive sense:

YOU
Try to listen to the voices that support you and picture you as a better person.
I will succeed, I am a nice person, I am smart, beautiful and modest :)~. This is the real you

NOT YOU
Ignore the voices that put you (or other people) down.
I am a failure, I am ugly, I am a sinner, all people hate me
I hate all people, men are animals. I will burn in Hell for this.

Ignore voices that use the word 'not'.
I am not going to make it. I can't do it. I can't take this any longer.
I am not qualified. I am not smart enough, I don't have the funds.

Ignore the voices that trigger your fears.
People will hate me for that. I don't want to tell anybody. I don't want to be alone.

I also noticed a post about you turning to Christianity. Just remember that you should NEVER fear God. If you're looking for him, listen to the YOU voice.

I agree with Millionaire, but Millionaire from old posts of hers that i have read through the time that i have been here i have never read about her telling about good voices, sadly.

And dont promote religion, everyone is entitled to believe or not to believe in what they want. I am an Orthodox Christian, but i dont promote it. (:

Thanks guys. The voices aren't thought in first person in my head i.e. I'm lazy. They're other people's voices and images with them there doing this miserable things.

I'm still leaning towards mindfulness meditation. The Power of Now said you can't fight the mind. You just have to allow the thoughts to be there, realizing that no thoughts are permanent.

What do you think?
