Default Need Ideas for Self-Talk Topics

So far I have "bad things aren't welcome in my life. I deserve to be happy. No more drama."

And "I'm beautiful, I'm kind, I'm perfectly competent to take care of myself."

Also "what's your favorite movie? Favorite color.."

Any other ideas?

Is that meant to repel voices, distract them or...? Not sure which effect you want, so i am not sure what to reply.

It's designed to feel safe, to distract voices, and to treat myself with love.

Discuss any good quality that you possess (not sure if i spelled it right), like these: your a great independent woman, really caring person, really kind, you are original, you have your own way of thinking and you cherish it... I can go like this forever.
Avoid touchy subjects that can be discussed till infinity and beyond, like religion, racism and such, you know those topics that are really touchy.
You can also try discussing some silly topics, like you mentioned, movies, music, sports and such.. if something else pops into my mind i will notify you. :)

Best luck.

The voices really cut to the core of me, they know exactly which buttons to push.

For example, one just said that I try to be different because being different is all I have, seeing as I'm not very successful. That got to me.

I try to explain myself, but I'm learned that they will never, ever, ever understand me and don't really want to. It's the same with people, seeing as these voices are so realistic.

It's hard to talk to myself and build myself back up after another blow to the heart. That's probably why I can't quit smoking (although I did quit drinking once I learned that it only makes matters worse).

If you were able to quit drinking, I believe that the same can happen for smoking.

Maybe you can try to turn what the voices say againts you againts them. For example, if they say that being different is all you got, tell them that you have everything then.

Dont let them get you, you are not unique because thats only thing you have. You are being unique because that is your perspective, that is you. No one can take your true self from you, dont let the voices get you. Love yourself, you are full of great qualities, dont let the voices convince you otherwise, you are correct, voices are wrong and mean, thats why you should be able to ignore them. Dont let them win this fight, because they dont deserve to win, you are the one who deserves to emerge victorious.

Oh, about smoking, you can leave it, baby steps, take one day and count all the cigarettes that you smoke through it. Then gradually drop 1 by 1, and when you reach some really small amount , like 2-3, completely leave them. Try using something instead of cigar when you feel a need, like eating something sweet, listening to some music, etc. Just keep your brain busy till need is gone.

Best luck, sis.

If everything worked out for you, where would you be?
