Default Struggling Today

Much like most days. I have no interests or hobbies of my own... I play a video game with my husband when he's at home... even then I just sit and wait around until he's ready to play it. He hates that. My whole life is just sitting and waiting for each day to be over. I would be interested in chatting with people online more, but no one seems interested in keeping a friendship with me online, as in communicating regularly. I have made one friend here, which is really nice, but doesn't come close to filling my time (not that I would expect that of anyone). I just wish I had more to keep me going. I feel like I have nothing to look forward to. I am seeing a stand up comedy show next month, and that's about it.

Is there nothing that you enjoy or anything you want to learn more about? There are plenty of group activities or classes, just an idea I have done a few different courses over the years.

There really isn't. There are things that vaguely interest me, but the depression keeps away any sort of motivation to pursue anything.

What kind of things are you interested in, even if it's just a vague interest?

I find that having a list of possible options can help answer the above question, particularly when I'm feeling down, so perhaps the links below will be of help to you too:

World's Largest List of Hobbies!

Don't worry about next steps at this point, or having the motivation to follow through, etc, etc. Just see if you can come up with a list of things that interest you.

Thanks. I appreciate the links. I'll have a look. I am vaguely interested in studying languages, but my inability to concentrate or remember things kind of kills that motivation. I'm not sure what else. I used to knit, but it started hurting my hands, and I think I've lost my knitting supplies (apart from the yarn). Not really anything else apart from those things, I don't think.

Do you ever go to the library? That would be something to do, and you could get out a book on painting, animals, or improving your memory! I just finished reading one called "Ageless Memory." There are probably better books on the subject, but I still found it to be helpful (although I must admit, I almost forgot the title just now!). Your library may also have a community bulletin board with local events and such, and something may pique your interest. You never know!

Catherine, I totally Feel your pain. I have no hobbies, no interests, no friends, nothing that makes me smile. My life is work, living with my boyfriend, feeling like I'm old and wasting away my life when I'm less than 30. It's a miserable life. When you're depressed sometimes hobbies are impossible to identify and find interest in, everything feelings hopeless. I pray to God each night that he helps me persevere. I will pray for you too, Catherine. Please be well and take care of yourself

SB, I am 32, but it still doesn't make it better that I'm living like this. I was like this in my twenties as well. I wish I could work, because I'm just waiting for each day to pass by with no distractions. Yes, you're right, everything feels hopeless, and it's too hard to identify with anything. Thanks for your words of support. I wish you a brighter times ahead.
