Default Graphic disturbing thoughts

They have been somewhat flaring up lately. I'm about 95% sure that they're linked to my OCD-related symptoms too. Argh. Generally distracting myself and trying not to think about them helps me the most but I just wish there was more I could do... to eradicate these thoughts permanently if at all possible.

Oh Dragnerok. Sadly I don't think that there is a way to eradicate bad thoughts because the more you try not to think about them the more you do. I've found the only trick is to replace them with something. Especially if they are completely opposite of the thoughts you are having. If it's harming others? Then help others. This is a great site to help others and I think that you do a great job of that.

Mine is that something horrible will happen to someone in my family. It even goes as far as imagining every detail of it. It's very upsetting. So I started putting together a website of pictures of my family so that if something were to happen to them they will be memorialized.

Hobbies really help with these things. What kind of things are you doing to distract yourself?

Sadly, very little. Most days, when I'm not in therapy or running errands for my family, I spend in front of the computer, often sitting there trying to think of something to do or stuck in a loop of checking my email then checking forums then checking my email. I had a thought recently along those lines, though: that I really need to start eliminating all of the pointless things in my life that are needlessly draining me and replacing them with more positive meaningful things that could help move my recovery along. I guess the only problem is that I haven't been able to come up with much, although I haven't spent much time thinking about it either.
