Default MR gillett and Mr Hicks

their seems to be a lot of amercian business men buying our football clubs what with the glazer family buying man u, Gillett and Hicks have just bought liverpool fc, and to be fair their the liverpool fans are quite postive about this takeover as the amercian business men will be investing hundreds of millions of pounds towards new players, and paying of the debts the club has this is good deal for liverpool as they want to stay in the top4 of the best of the english clubs then this is some much needed investement, i just hope the american business men respect the tradtions of this old and famous football club which is 100's of year old

I hope so, too, Spurs. Traditions are important. Seems that cross-cultural, cross-country buying sprees are common now. It would be good practice for everyone if they kept in line with traditions, respect, and the culture of the country. I hope the buying of your football clubs proves to be a good thing for YOUR country.

Could be good for the club this yes. Help towards getting them the new stadium too. I know anfield is very historical to them, especially with the famous KOP. But that stadium is too small for them now.

Just as long as they don't start finishing above Man Utd in the league. I'd never hear the end of it. I'm surrounded by scousers in this town.

Very true. I'm all for foreign players coming in, i think it really spices up the premiership. But no english players in your 1st 11. That isn't right.

I mean only a season or 2 ago ago, Real Madrid had more english than arsenal. That's not right

i also think foreign players is a good thing specially like thierry henry, and Zola, they have/had been such a huge credit to themselves and to our league, but seems to me their are to many poor/average foreign players in our league which i believe are stopping english talent from coming through

hmm. I wonder if they are cheaper and that's why the influx? Or is this country going through a dry spout and not much young talent coming about.

Or maybe not enough investment from clubs in their youth academies?

Sometimes i wonder if games consoles may have contributed. I mean when I was a kid, when I wanted to pretend I was a footballing hero like Mark Hughes, Lineker I'd be down the park or on the street playing football. All the kids would call each other by a football stars name.

Now these days if you wanna be a football star, just stick fifa in your ps2 or xbox and there you are, controlling your favorite footy star.
