I think that some of the calm last night was due to less than favourable weather as much as anything. It's amazing how a bit of rain can be a saviour when it comes to disorder, lol! I mean, smashing up shops and stealing DVD players in one thing............but nothing to get your hair wet over.....

It was calm in Birmingham last night as far as I'm aware. I know that our local magistrates court in Solihull was open throughout the night just processing the hundreds of people who have been arrested and charged.

It's quite shocking to read in the papers the kind of people who have been caught looting, from school assistants to rich kids. Then there was the guy who insisted that he only stole the ski mask to protect his eyes from the flying glass......

I was watching a documentary series last night called "Beyond Scared Straight". It was a scheme in the U.S. where wayward teens were given an up close and personal tour of maximum security prisons, by a team of lifers. They got to see what their future might be if they persisted in their wrongdoing. It was quite a good watch, and many of these kids who thought that they were so tough were reduced to silent, wide-eyed sheep in the face of double murderers and so on. It might not be such a bad idea for some kids in this country, to see what prison is really like. Many of the kids featured in this show went on to reform their ways, having been shown that their is no glamour in sharing a toilet with 50 other guys and having to watch your back 24hrs a day.

Ah ha.... Ah ha.... Ah ha....

A man got 8 months for stealing 75 worth of stuff. They are not going to be going lightly on the criminals. Anyone involved will be evicted from council property, if they are immigrates or here on student visa will be deported.

I hope they are crying like baby's

I hope they don't go lightly. They have done it for them self's and ruined where they live. They should be ashamed of them self's. I am sorry for everyone who lived in the area's that got ruined. People where spreading rumors it would come to the city I live in, thankful so far nothing has happened and hope that it all gets stop very soon.
Stay safe everyone.

Default Broom armies ...

I found the neatest articles online today ...

Fighting back with brooms: London citizens clean up after the riots | The Observers

‘Where’s your broom?’: London cleans up after third night of riots | News | National Post

UK riots 2011: Broom armies reclaim London, Birmingham, and Manchester streets | Mail Online

Everyone seems to be getting in the act and taking back their own streets.

It gives me hope for humanity!!! If I had a ticket I'd head over with a broom to help!!!

As Mousey said Iam glad too that there is still some proper humans out that. And Mousey well done for trying to help though.
Been keeping up to date on this as much as I can.Read some things of what people have said, like someone only stole a ski mask to protect their eyes from the glass or something liek that. One lady handed herself in for feeling guilty and couldn't sleep. I can't believe some of the age groups though.

The young lad who had the broken jaw and people taking things from his bag, Sony is sending him a new psp with games.

What has the world come to? I hope the justice system will get tougher and that these people get what they deserve.
I hope its the end of it now.

It is terrible and makes you wonder where the parents where or if they were involved too.
I don't know either Brandy, how this will turn out. I just hope its over with. It is so bad and horrible how these people did this. One store was 100+ years old and was passed down in the family and now it is burned down.

I also felt sorry for him, poor lad must have been so shaken up, I was reading that there is a video up on the net of him talking about what happened. So sad that people even thought of doing anything like that. I mean he got it twice, his bike first (how his jaw got broken) and then the stuff from his bag.I don't know how I would have coped.
