The met police have issued a statement saying there will be 13000 officers on the streets of london by tonight. All leave is canceled

Much better than the 1700 that were trying to control the mobs last night

I see the 'protests' have come to my city too now (Birmingham). Seems to be the same political agenda behind it all, the indignity of having to PAY for things you want in life

I note your update about the expected police presence that will now be on the streets of London and not a moment too soon. I hope that they will be authorised to use as much non-lethal force as is available to them. Let's face it, lethal force will never be authorised regardless of how many of us would consider it. That still leaves them with options, water cannons, non lethal ammunition rounds, tear gas, CS spray, tasers and batons, etc. I don't envy their job one bit. Having to wade into mobs of degenerates who are wielding god knows what as makeshift weapons takes some guts. Personally I don't think they get paid enough to have to risk their own lives by getting close to these morons. Hence why any kind of ranged offence would be useful.

Like or dislike the police, these recent events are a good indication of where we might be without them!

this sort of thing is heartbreaking..

A baby clothes shop owner whose store was looted and then set on fire tearfully spoke of her anger and sadness at the “mindless” riots. Liz Pilgrim, who runs Baby e, a boutique shop in Ealing, West London, near the famous studios, said she raced to the store when she was told it had been attacked by youths.
She found it on fire, with her stock strewn across the streets, railings and even hanging on nearby trees on the green opposite.
Ms Pilgrim, who opened the shop seven years ago, said it was just “mindless violence” and had left her heartbroken. “I am just absolutely devastated,” she said.

This is so not right and uncalled for.
For those in the area's please be careful and be safe.
This sort of thing really is sad and so uncalled for. Everyone who has lost their homes, business and everything else, its so sad for them.

Please be safe everyone and I hope this riot ends very soon.

cost of damage has passed the 100M mark

Also because of the amount of under 18y/os taking part they have stated that anyone arrested for looting/rioting will be tried like an adult.... if you think your old enough to commit the crime, your old enough to pay the consequences

Be safe mmch. I have been living in a city where killing people is a usual part of the day. Everyday 10-15 people are dying. Bomb blasts and killing of people through shooting is very common
Just be safe.
