Default Josh Bell

This was in the Washington Post a couple weeks ago. I found it, it was summarised in my paper today. Basically, a reporter convinced world-famous violinist Joshua Bell to try busking outside a DC metro station to see if anyone would notice.

Bottom line: overwhelmingly, they didn't.

Yeah. Out of I think six people that stopped, only one recognised him. But you would have thought more people would have stopped. I mean he was playing some of the hardest pieces ever written for solo violin.

Wow that's interesting. I hadn't known who he was either...
But I would have stopped for sure...
I always stop to listen to people play music in the street or near the subway tracks...
Well, assuming they're any good... some of them hurt my ears...
Once or twice I've stayed for quite a while, said goodbye to my trains home bc I enjoyed a good player...
But most that I hear have an intonation that ranges from medium to poor... it doesn't happen very often that a player is actually very good or excellent.
:) Thanks UN.
