Default Europeless ireland.

The above is the Daily Mirror's playful way with words to announce that the Republic of Ireland is going to need a bailout by the IMF and EU to the tune of 85 billion Euro (about £72 billion UK). I wasn't sure whether to post this thread in the Venting section or the News section, so here's hoping that I chose the right one:

"Europeless Ireland"

"You are hopeless Ireland" - Do you get it? Not very subtle, is it!

This profound wit came from a journalist named Derek McGovern. With a name like that, mind you, I would not be surprised if this member of the Aryan race had some Irish blood in his veins himself. He adds even more words of wisdom to the piece as follows:

"It's typical of Ireland where the national dish is a hangover, to go cap in hand to the rest of Europe for a handout.
Maybe we should buy them breakfast rather than give them money because you know it will only go on booze."

I've got a headline for you too, Derek:

"See you on Tuesday"

"CUNT" - Do you get Derek? Not very subtle either, is it! But true.
Better make that a racist cunt...that's even more accurate.

10 days have gone by since I made my comments and no-one seems to have added to them.

Can I take it from this silence then, that racist remarks in the press are acceptable to all the folks of TTL???

That fucker, Derek McGovern, clouded with his prejudiced views, cannot even get his facts right:

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the per capita consumption of alcohol per annum in Ireland is 15.6 litres, while that of the UK is 11.8 litres.

So the Irish do drink more per person. But these 2 figures put BOTH nations in the World's Top 10 of alcohol consumed per capita. Not a very flattering figure for either, wouldn't you agree???

A bit like "the pan calling the kettle black ass", isn't that so, Mr. McGovern?

I think your right, Doggie...it's a bit like when I run around in circles trying to bite my own tail...I never quite seem to catch it.
