The Shawshank Redemption is my all time favorite.

Gattica is good, and Shawshank. I have them both on DVD.

One of my all time favorites has to be Eternal Sunset of spotless minds.

One movie that always inspires me is Whale Rider. Anybody seen that one? It came out about six years ago and was made in New Zealand. It always makes me feel that situations can really change for the better, and that everyone has something powerful hidden within themselves if they can somehow find it. I think I should break that one out and watch again. I could use that inspiration right now.

Anyone have any recommendations of light hearted comedies with a nice resolution? I really feel like a few at the moment.

As for inspirational films The Shawshank Redemption and Man on Wire are two of my favourites.

Hey Arthur,

One of my favorite comedies is As Good As It Gets. It's actually a good story if you deal with depression or anxiety yourself, as the two main characters both live with mental health issues (one has major OCD and the other has anxiety, depression, and intimacy problems). I love the movie because, to me, it's one of the only realistic romantic comedies I've ever seen. The two leads are very flawed people, but in the end, they manage to grow, look past the flaws, and become very close. It's not overly sappy or romantic. It's dry, funny, touching at times, and has a nice, uplifting, but not-over-the-top ending. Check it out.

If I want to laugh, I watch the old Richard Dreyfuss/Emilio Estevez movie Stakeout. It's hilarious. They work together so well in that movie. Also, Fletch is one of my all time faves, I quote it all the time.
