Any fans here?I lovelovelove The Smiths! My absolute favourite band of all time,Morrissey is my hero, his lyrics are unbelievable, anyone on here feel free to post your favourite lyrics of his.And Morrissey is one of the best guitarists ever,my inspiration,I aspire to play like him, their stuff is fantastic, whimsical, witty, and heartbreakingly poignant, all at once. Here are a few of my favourites,There Is A Light That Never Goes Out is the most romantic song I've ever heard,Handsome Devil is poetically filthy, and Asleep is beautiful.

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out:

One of the most powerful and most inspirational lyrics I ever heard came from The Smiths in 'How Soon Is Now?'. It lifts me up sometimes:
You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

'How Soon Is Now?' is so incredibly powerful, depending on my mood,I can cry to it,dance to it,or just be incredibly uplifted by it,one of Johnny Marr's best riffs.I just noticed a horrific mistake,in the first post it says "Morrissey is one of the best guitarists ever" That means Johnny Marr, sorry.

Massive fan of The Smiths/ Morrissey. Some personal favourites:

Last night i dreamt that somebody loved me
I know its over
There is a light that never goes out
How soon is now

Come back to Camden
First of the gang to die
Suedehead

Just to name a few of course I honestly can't think of a single track i don't like. They've been a guilty pleasure of mine for years.

I actually think i know every word to You Are The Quarry, how sad

I know every word to EVERY Smiths song, don't worry!

Are they really a guilty pleasure? O.o Here in Ireland The Smiths and Morrissey aren't well known,so I wouldn't know.

I can play The Queen Is Dead all the way through on guitar and sing it at the same time,in fact I did it for my last gig.

Angel,We Go Down Together:

YouTube - Morrissey - Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together

One of my favourite Moz songs,I also love:

Suedehead
Every Day Is Like Sunday
Hold On To Your Friends
Irish Blood,English Heart

He is unbelievable,I once gave my ex a Valentine's card with the lyrics to "Angel..." on it,she didn't know the song so I pretended I wrote it. LOL,she never found out, she'd been feeling really depressed and it cheered her up a lot. Thanks Morrissey!

Yeh unfotunatly a guilty pleasure because none of my friends have heard of them, not that i'm bothered really because i know they'd hate it anyway. My dad went to see The Smiths back in the day buts thats about it.

Nothing wrong with abit of minor plagarism if it helps cheer someone else up

Which are your favourite albums?

The Queen Is Dead is my favourite Smiths album and is my favourite album EVER.The perfect mix of anger, humour, and poignancy.

My favourite Morrissey album... tough one!Viva Hate,Vauxhall & I,and You Are The Quarry, one of those, but I love everything he does,I even liked Southpaw Grammar, for God's sake!

Opinions on Years of Refusal?I thought it was absolutely stunningly brilliant,as usual.

I liked Years of Refusal, although (and you'll prob hate me for this ) i wasn't expecting alot after Ringleader Of The Tormentors.

Both albums are growing on me, but as you can probably tell You Are The Quarry is my favourite so my expectations were a little high.

The Queen is Dead is my favourite Smiths too, closely followed by the self titled album.

By the way, forgot to say i'm very jealous that you play it on your guitar, i've been meaning to learn guitar for years now just never got round to it.

It's actually UNBELIEVABLY difficult to play in places, learning it increased my (already fanboyish) respect for Johnny Marr tenfold,it's really easy enough until I Know It's Over, which is still fairly ok to play, but Never Had No One Ever is almost impossible to sing and play at once for me,I don't know why, there are some seriously tough songs on it,particularly Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others! >< God I love that album,it's so great they were even able to leave Asleep, one of their best songs ever, off the album!

Smiths album Hierarchy: TQID>>>The Smiths>>>Strangeways>>>Hatful of Hollow>>>Louder Than Bombs/The World Won't Listen>>>Meat Is Murder>>>Rank

I think I can forgive you for that, but I still loved Ringleader...

I would have LOVED to have seen them live,I missed Morrissey when he came to Kerry, which I was annoyed about.

That hard? Guess it'll be ages until i give it a go then! Spot on with the album orders aswell.

I was thinking of going to see Morrissey last year, but i don't much like the idea of going on my own.
