Default Gustav Mahler Rueckert Lieder ( Nr.3 )

Only Mahler could write such music, giving the words by Rueckert their musical equivalent. Friedrich Rueckert ( 1788 -1866 ) wrote 428 poems between 1833-1834 in reaction to the death of his two children. They were not written for publication.

In meinem Lieben, in meinem Lied!

I am lost to the world
with which I used to waste so much time,
It has heard nothing from me for so long
that it may very well believe that I am dead!

It is of no consequence to me
Whether it thinks me dead;
I cannot deny it,
for I really am dead to the world.

I am dead to the world's tumult,
And I rest in a quiet realm!
I live alone in my heaven,
In my love and in my song!

Default Telemann

The Oboe Sonatas of Telemann , an incredible prolific composer who wrote nearly 3000 works ,are fabulously inspired works, and particularly the first sonata
heard here is a jewel !!

Default Bach

Back to Bach, the ''father of all music '' , as he is sometimes called.
Here is the E major piano concerto , a wonderfully bright piece ,full of ''positive vibes''.
Bach's sense of rhythm and his endless harmonic and melodic inventiveness are indeed quite unique and only the greatest in the business like Mozart and Beethoven can catch up with this genius.

Default 2 X Mozart

Here is one of the other champions.

Mozart's restless energy can be heard in this version of the last mvt. of his concerto for 2 pianos.
Full of surprises , wit and humour , highly virtuosic: Mozart at his best.

PS For the other side of the coin, the darker, more passionate Mozart:

This clearly was far ahead of its time, its searing intensity and chromaticism anticipating the Romantic era.
