Mozart concerto 20 in d, K.466 - 2. Romance Gulda - YouTube
Wow, wow!! I enjoyed this link tremendously. It`s my 3rd time playing it. The first two times, I had to close my eyes to let me senses unfold: flirty, poignant, seductive, and impeccable timing is how I felt. All this while on a live concerto. Amazing stuff!!

I just purchased the concerto

Ah, I`ve also been listening to Gershwin. Will let you know my thoughts on it, later.

Default Archduke

The greatest classical piano Trio ( from the classical period that is ) is without any doubt Beethoven's Trio Opus 97 ,the so called "Archduke " Trio.
It's a colossal work, with dimensions that are --as so often in Beethoven's late works--testing the endurance of performers and listeners.
The slow mvt is a a vast set of Variations, quite 'visionary' as the the Variations progress. Already the theme in itself reaches out into great depth.Again Beethoven leaves classicism behind him, already venturing out into the music of the future ,romanticism and even 20th century.
One of the best versions of this work can be found here:
Beethoven Piano Trio No. 7 "Archduke" 3. Mov. - YouTube
( poor sound quality ,but superbly refined playing.)

Default Fellini's Vatican fashion show

@Dave, I am back,to the hell with misery and pain....

From time to time I allow myself ( and others of course ! )digressions into movies.I adore the great filmmakers as much as anything else in life, especially the likes of Antonioni,Fellini,Pasolini,Altman,Coen Brother,Jarmush,Kaurismaki,Bergman,Chabrol,Truffau t ,Tarr,Angelopoulos,to name a few.

Here is a highlight from Fellini's "ROMA". No explanations needed....
one of the highlights of that film if not Fellini...

Default Mozart Soave sia il vento

This is one of the highlights of Mozart's opera writing.
The magic orchestra writing, the simplicity of the singing lines.
Musical perfection.

Default Tango

After Bela Tarr's "Satantango" excerpt on the other blog here now a sparkling musical equivalent. Tango...much more than just some hopping around...but some
really dark and passionate affair...

Default Mozart KV 617a ( plus a Bonus )

An Original composition for glas harp.
And it it is a very late work ,so we are entering the holy land
of music, the twilight zone of the greatest masterpieces ever created .
Hats off,ladies and gentlemen,boys and girls !
Switch everything off for 3.07 and enjoy the show.
It is a striking reminder what makes Mozart great:
with very few notes ( on an extremely limited instrument )
he creates a perfectly balanced gem, with far reaching harmonic twists and a superb melodic line.
That piece also works very well on the piano,it is a very effective encore
Mozart Adagio für Glasharmonika KV 617a - YouTube

And as a bonus:
last movement of the infamously difficult String Trio KV 563 ,also a late work.
Full of joy, wit, elegance, virtuosity and spellbinding beauty.
