Well it is getting to the time of year that I can sit down and watch the movie that always inspires me and cheers me up.
What A Wonderful Life........
It is just one of those movies that does it for me. Has to be the black and white version though. It has been converted to colour but it is just not the same.

So my question is what movies inspire you and why?

"It's A Beautiful Life" is the first that comes to mind for me. Despite the absolute adhorrent condition a father finds himself in he protects his child and clings to optimism.

Stand and Deliver
Lean on Me
The Ron Clark Story
The Miracle Worker (favorite)
Akeelah and the Bee
Finding Forrester
The Blindside
Radio

These are movies with the same theme: Teachers helping misunderstood, usually inner city, troubled kids. The children are very smart and talented - but it might not be visible, and nobody ever gave them a chance or pushed them to succeed. The teachers are persistent as can be, and end up succeeding where other teachers / adults failed. Many are true stories (I think they all are!). VERY inspirational!

Thanks for this thread. Makes me wanna go watch one of these right now!

Pay It Forward
It's A Wonderful Life
I Am Sam
Something The Lord Made
Crash (I don't know if you can consider it inspirational, but hyperlink movies give me little hope that someone amazing might change my life one day, childish, I know.)

A couple of Kurosawa films spring to mind. Ikiru and Red Beard. Both are beautiful films that everyone should watch.
