Default Too old to miss my dad?

I'm 38, and my dad passed when I was 9 of Lou Gehrigs' Disease. Which I found out when I was older was called ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
As a kid, I wasn't told much of anything. All I knew was he was home more often.

So for me, one night, I went to bed and he was there. Then I woke up to us girls standing there while our preachers wife tells us he was gone.

I still miss him, every day.

Dear Rain77,

I am so sorry for your loss. As adults we struggle to come to terms with the passing of a loved one - I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it was for you at such a young age. Your father was obviously a wonderful person who had a profound impact on your life, and it is certainly ok to always keep your heart open to that.

Dear Rain77: Well, if you're too old to miss your Dad, then I'm with you. I'm 51!

I am really sorry that you didn't have your Dad through your older life. Nothing can replace a Dad (or a Mom), so that leaves us with missing them.

I hope you are honouring your true feelings and holding close the memories and love you get to keep.

Well put RavenDarkLight.

I'm nearly 50 and I still miss my Dad. He's been gone nearly 30 years. Missing someone is part of living. Accepting that they're gone and moving on is not the same as forgetting someone and yes, even though life moves on, we still miss those who have died.

All one can do is cherish the memories.

Never "too old" to miss those you love. My father died 15 years ago, my mother 8 years ago. Every second of the day I miss them both. No matter how long I live, that will never change.
