I believe some reasons why I can't let go is because, same as you, she accepted me for who I was, pimples and all. I've been an outsider my whole life, but she accepted me, and with her, I finally belonged somewhere. Now, I'm alone again.
Have you spoken to her husband about you not letting go?
I lost my aunt (we were close) in -98 to a heart attack at an age of 50. I can still feel her around me, even though I feel beyond help at the moment, for more reasons then just the grieving. It's hard on my mother, she loves me and wishes me the best, but there is nothing she, or anyone else can do, I've tried and gotten nowhere, but now I'm getting off topic.
Don't drink to drown your sorrows. Sorrows knows how to swim.
