Today, I was looking at Bear, the new puppy. Some of his traits truly remind me of Roo. There's things that he's now doing, as he's becoming older, that are just like what she did. While I thought it was cute, it also is a constant reminder of her; besides her picture. To me, it's like losing the best friend I knew. I know I have my Gus to keep me company, but I still miss her and her funny little ways. She also was a great protector and I felt safe with her around. Gus has gotten better about barking at thing, more so that usal, but she would cuddle with me at night, he doesn't. He use to though, when she was here. Maybe it was the attention that he was looking for, at that now, he doesn't need to as much. It still hurts, like losing a loved one. You never truly forget what they brought into your life and you hope you brought something special into theirs as well.

I was thinking of Roo today, as I do many days, but today seemed particulary hard. I miss her and Bear has so many "traits" of her, it's truly hard to ignore them, even when I try. There's just something about him, that's a 'reminder' of her and still how guilty I feel that I had to "let her go." She was dear to my heart and I still feel so much guilt twords doing what was right, or at least I thought it was right at the time. It's amazing to me, how much guilt you have over a pet. I sincerely hope, as time moves forward, that while she's not here with me, she'll be forever in my heart and I can learn to be okay with what I felt was in her best intrest.

As I was playing with my puppy, Bear, he did a few things that reminded me of my beloved Roo. It's still hard, even after all this time, how much I miss her and think of her; often. Bear has a lot of her 'traits,' so that within itself, makes it 'tougher' some days; for me. He's a spirited little boy, like Roo, and some of the things he does, are things that she used to do. While I realise that some dogs have the simliar traits, he really comes close to her all around attitude with things. I've never had this "feeling," that she "came back to me" some way.

I know it sounds a little odd. Maybe because I still haven't healed from all the guilt of doing what I thought was best for her? It's "ironic" to me, when I really think about the way(s) Bear acts and the things that Roo use to do, truly have things in common. He will sit and "talk" to me, like she did. He'll sit and get "pushy" about whatever he wants, just like she used to do. Maybe, in a small way, I really want Roo to "be a part of Bear" so that I know I did what I thought was best for her. I know it sounds a little "odd" and even as I type this, it comes across to me that way as well. Either way, I looked through all the pictures in my phone today and it brought tears to my eyes as I looked at her. I will say, that IF for some "off the wall" reason, she was reincarnated, I'm glad that I have Bear, because of all the wonderful, funny, and "crazy" way(s) she acted.

I will always love and miss my beautiful, wonderful, and loving Roo....
