Thank you all for your kind words!

I have three fibroid cysts, a "large" one on my right ovary. The only real cure, if it can be called a cure, is a hysterectomy. My doctor tells me that all we can do now is wait and see how I progress since I am opposed to surgery and hormones. She doesn't recommend hormones, since, these types of cysts get larger with estrogen. I am doing some reading on this.

I also had a biopsy of my uterine lining, which, HURT!!!!!!!!! The doc told me it would hurt like labor pains and/or the worse cramps I've ever had. I don't think I believed her at first, I do now.

My blood work is showing normal hormone levels.

The doc will call me in a week with the results of the biopsy.

Dr. said I need to keep taking the iron tablets and eating red meat. She said that if the heavy bleeding affects my quality of life, we will have to look at medication and/or surgery. She is letting me decide what I want, and has made it very clear that I can call at any time if things get worse.

The ladies at the office are really nice. One gal laughs kinda goofy, but she stayed with me to make sure I was ok after the biopsy.

I am not sure I am going to work tomorrow.

I feel really blessed!

I am not feeling so good today. I think I over did it yesterday. I did a lot of housework and then went running errands. It's like I lost track of time.

I walked in the am, but didn't do my yoga. I don't know if maybe I should have.

Feeling very insecure today.

I told my co-worker about what is going on. Now I think I shouldn't have. Now they will know. Is it a bad thing that they know? Will I loose my job? Worry has set in.

I can feel the cysts. I took 6 tylenol yesterday.

Been sleeping good at night, having some weird dreams.

3t, I'm sorry you aren't feeling so good today. Maybe you should take it easy today and just rest up?

I asked someone to buy me some whiskey yesterday, and they did, a big bottle.

I could have bought it myself. I almost stopped at the liquor store yesterday, but didn't.

Classic alcoholic behavior.

I read your signature, maybe I better stay away from the whiskey until I am in a better frame of mind.

I guess I'll start the tylenol. Taking tylenol keeps me from drinking. I won't mix pills with alcohol, too scared.

Had not such a good day yesterday.

Today seems to be better so far.

Just so cold lately. I guess my iron dropped, so I took an iron pill and had steak last night for supper.

My co-worker was in a really bad mood. I had to stay away from her b/c I was not in any better mood and could have screamed at her; happy I did stay away from her.

Default Update to Aging

The biopsy report is clear! Thank God!

I still have to deal with the large cyst causing me the problems I am having. I am opting, at this time, against surgery. Depending on what happens with the cyst, I may have no choice and have to have surgery down the road, but for now, no.

I know I am taking a chance in waiting. I've read a lot about the type of cyst I have and am looking into a natural, non-surgical alternative.

The good thing is that I have a great doctor and she is a surgeon.

Thanks everyone for reading and the encouraging posts!

Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. I can really empathize. I started getting cysts on my ovaries in my early 40's and they certainly can wreak havoc on us. I don't know if I had a different kind, but was always told that it was relatively normal and common for women as they age to get cysts.

I had what sounds like a similar situation, though, with extremely heavy bleeding and always thought it was related to the cysts. It turns out that in my late 40's I did end up having a hysterectomy (but not the ovaries). Am I glad I did. It turns out that I had calcified polyps in the uterus in an area near the bottom where they were hard to be seen. They were the front runners to cancer.

For me, finally having the hysterectomy was a relief and by leaving the ovaries I didn't get thrown into menopause. Sadly, menopause is hitting me now, but that's another whole saga. :)

It's great that you have a doctor you trust and can talk to, and also that you are getting informed about all your options. Sounds like you are doing everything you can and doing it well, to boot!
