Unhappy I want to change-why don't I ever do it?

I'm ready to change ready to become a better person lose the weight and have a new lifestyle. I would always make little notes and sign them saying "from now on I'll do this and excercise eat right ect.." I make up excercise sheets work out schedules ect ect but never stick to it EVER. I'm sick of this what is wong with me?? Why wont I change? I'll freakin' throw up my food but I can't seem to make this lifestyle change to save my life. Over the years I've become a much healthier eater, but I still over eat and don't exercise. I want to be normal for once. I'm tired of this. I don't know what it is like to have firm thighs, ever since I was a preteen I was chubby and have had thick thunder cellulite thighs. I can't live like this.
I am sick of skinny people who have never had weight problems giving me advice on losing weight. I want to hear from someone who was big and then lose it and kept it off not someone who has never had a weight problem. DO NOT GIVE ME DIET ADVICE. I have heard it all I know what to f*cking do it's just getting myself to do it. I need help on how to make a lifestyle change. How do you motivate yourself to change?
How can I get my butt of the couch, quit whining and start changing? Why haven't I changed? Anyone got any advice on how to make that big lifestyle change how to change yourself and your lifestyle and I ma not talking about just diet ect..
Do not give me weight loss advice I will get pissed off, I know how to lose weight I just need to know how to get motivated how to make that big change.
For exmaple, so we get off the weight issue, If i wanted to quit smoking and always said i would but put it off and didnt. ect..
I know this thread is basically pointless I jsut wish i didnt procrastinate and make the sanem mistakes over and over again.

well, here's another chonically skinny person giving you advice...find something active you enjoy a little and do a lot of it. or find something active you hate to do, and make it your pennance for not doing other things you hate... 'If the laundry and dishes are not done by 2, I have to go run'.

I've never been slim because of diet; I'm slim to some extent by genetics, but to some extent because it just feels good to use my body. Diet is crap. eat all you want, as much as you want; if you run 5 mi/day you won't be fat long no matter what you eat or your genetics.

Well. I know you said you don't want advice from a skinny person so I'll talk about my friend if that's OK.

My friend was really fat o_o she has always been fat since we were growing up.
She was pretty though (even though the fat... kind of makes some people view her as not)

Then her boyfriend dumped her... and what does he say? "You are too fat for me" or something like that. What a jerk. She was fat in the beginning, if he didn't like her anymore- he should have just said so -_-

She was really mad about it and sad too (for awhile) o_o and really determined to lose weight.
So she started eating healthier (like cutting on junk/unhealthy foods but not all of it lol. who would? )
And she started exercising (jogging everyday and sometimes playing sports too, i think she played ddr too (but DDR is reallyreallyreally a slow process to lose weight so don't bother unless you find it fun))
It took a long time though... Uh. It was gradual to me since I saw her more often than not but I think it took some months though.

Well. His comment was the reason she really wanted to lose weight x_x He really humiliated her. It's not the best reason but it made her strive for a goal. Well, she's skinny and pretty now (and I think she forgot all about that guy or doesn't care anymore lol)~ but you probably don't wanna hear about that. o:

It takes a long time just so you know. It won't happen overnight.

I read your post and from what I see is... you want the results but you don't want to work for it. That's the problem there. You say you want to do it- but in reality, you actually don't so then you won't. lol.

Ok. If you read my post, please ignore your 'current' wants and remember your 'long-time goal' want... and go jog right now. ok? lol... but no one can force you to do what you really don't want to. You can try to force yourself to do things you don't want to but not everyone has the self-discipline (willpower/control of oneself) to.

Good luck :]

Hey. I'm fat. But haven't always been fat. Zoloft made me gain 70 lbs. And I'm 5'2"! I'm going through the same thing. Duh, I know how to diet. Duh, I know I need to exercise. But how do I START doing it? I mean, where's my "go" button?

Girl, if you find a magical way to get off your yam and get moving, lemmie know. I have a exercise bike and a rowing machine and I know a zillion calisthenics. So it's not like I don't know what to do. It's just more than I need a Jimminy Cricket on my shoulder saying "geeettttt moving, lard ass". Hehe. I have 50 lbs to lose. I have lost 30 already by diet alone but then gained 10 back from being a sloth.

Lemmie know if you find some motivation techniques...

HI Cry,

I am also *fat*

I gained all my weight from Anti D's also I hate the word Diet

What Helped me and forced me to exercise was joining the gym and having a support team to go with to coach u to go when u dont have the motivation too.

Also buy changing sugary snacks for a healthier choice of snack when hungry between meals.

Drinking lots of water and it also makes u feel full

Just Some ideas from a fellow *fat* person

think about all the POSITIVE things that will come out of making a lifestyle change. Everything that is possible, all the opportunities that are at your reach, and it takes YOU, deep inside, the strong person in there to just PUSH YOURSELF, PUSH!!!!! FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE THINGS, DON'T FOCUS ON HOW HARD IT IS, ALL THAT NEGATIVITY AND NOT BELIEVING IN YOURSELF WILL GET YOU NOWHERE!

FIGHT ALL THAT NEGATIVITY!!!

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, think of the times you were courageous, think about a time that you did something you didn't think you could, but it happened. No matter how large or small, the point is you HAVE that courage to make a change.

FEELINGS HAVE MORE POWER WHEN SPOKEN OUT LOUD.

Look in the mirror and repeat positive affirmations to yourself. TELL YOURSELF WHAT YOU WANT AND WHAT YOU ARE WORTH. TELL YOURSELF WHAT YOU DESERVE. LOVE YOURSELF AND DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO TO MAKE A CHANGE.

Just believe k.

:)

Hmmmmmm.

Well to be motivated you must first have goals!
And if the goals seem unachievable, you should break it down into simpler things.

Like a fake example I'll make right nowww. (I'm not very good at examples just so you know rofl.)

1. Change My Look
why: So I can feel different/changed/pretty/good about my outer appearance etc.

-1. Change hairstyle (dye/salon/curl/straighten etc.)
-2. Buy a new outfit on _date here_

Or something.

Yeah. If you have time, just start thinking about things you hate and want to change, or start thinking about things you want to achieve... or try to find your journals as a kid (if you have any) and read them!

My childhood dream was to be a veterinarian. lol.

Crystaltears, I made the leap toward a drastically healthier lifestyle this summer and I'll be honest with you. For me personally, it was a matter of redirecting my self-hate. I'm not even sure how it happened, but this mental shift occurred to me where my self-loathing served as a reason to suffer through my exercise and bland tasting food. Weird, I know. It's a strange place for motivation to come from.

I think self-loathing is the key. I'm overweight CT and I think my fat has been an insulator against the pain I've carrying around inside. Now, I just let that pain go and I feel better for it so I figure weight loss should be an easier goal (That's my theory!)
