Meditation is really good and does work, not only for depression but as a daily wind down. It releases the days work especially before bed and aids good sleep so you start to feel a little better each day too.
If you get in a good routine you will find it gets easier. At first dont expect to concentrate for any length of time especially if you are a restless person

I practised it for a while. I didn't see any benefits though. Same with exercise... I only felt more tired and as miserable as always.

Now I basically eat, work and sleep.

I find it very beneficial. I have a reminders on my phone that go off at 10 AM and 2 PM everyday that I use as a "break from life". I have a few apps on my phone for guided meditation that I use for 5 or 10 minutes. Really helps to ground me, especially at work.
