Ideally diet is more effective if you exercise as well. It's simple physics do more and eat less and you will lose weight. However the saying that abs are made i n the kitchen not in the gym is true. Diet is more effective at losing weight than exercise.
Think about it this way. A typical chocolate bar has around 200 calories. To burn that off you would need to run 2-3 miles. It's easier to not eat a chocolate bar than run 2 miles.
The best form of exercise is weightlifting. That way you're metabolism is raised for 24 hours after your lifting session

No doubt! I'll second that! ^^^^

Exercise isn't necessary for weight loss, 90% of losing weight is diet.
All the exercise in the world cant help you if you down 3 donuts a day.

Ive been training for 4 years as an amateur boxer.

Know what helps lose weight? doing both cardio and weight lifting
train 3-4 times a week and you'll get jacked by week 2

Everybody is different. I know of people who work out 4-5 days a week that can eat whatever they want and still not gain anything. Pisses me off that I'm not one of them but that's another story. Point is some physical activity certainly isn't going to have a negative effect on you physically or even mentally.

The trick is finding something that works for you, you don't have to jump on a treadmill or stationary bike if you don't want to. There are so many programs out there to try.

I recently read a book that says its not just about what you eat for weight loss, it's WHEN you eat it. It proposed that you eat nothing but fresh fruit after you get up until noon, then eat moderately of anything except fruit, describing meals of vegetable and meat or vegetable and carbohydrate combination until 8 PM. It says not to eat after 8 until you rise in the morning again. I tried it out and I must say it makes the breakfast prep a lot easier because all I do is grab some fruit. It is harder for me not to combine meat and carbs, but my stomach feels better when I do it that way. I hope I'm losing weight- the scale will tell me soon.

Exercise definitely helps with weight loss. You can start with something small, like going on a 30 minute walk every two days, it might sound like a lot but it's not that bad. Also, this doesn't make you TOO hungry, so you probably won't overeat afterwards, but idk. Hope this helps!

Getting outside and walking a little bit every day will help improve your mood and motivate you to take better and better care of yourself. It is helping me to break out of a depression, making me feel a little better about myself, and lose about a pound a week. In a year I could lose about 50 pounds! Best wishes to you! :) <3
