Default Do you drink enough water?

Figured I'd put this up because most people (myself included) ... don't.

In a non-desert environment, we need to drink a minimum of two litres, or 64 ounces, approximately per day.

If we have any diruetics (such as alcohol), this number is increased - btw if you have more than 5 cups of tea or coffee a day, it no longer counts to your water intake because this is the cutoff point where the caffeine/diruetic effects outweigh the amount of water in the drink (effectively, you're dehydrating yourself more with each cup).

If you live in a desert environment, you need to take your body weight in pounds and divide by half - that's how much water, in ounces, you need to drink minimum to stay hydrated (I used to live a desert and a nurse told me this).

Dehydration can actually lead to your body retaining water (and thus bloating) because it thinks it's in a drought, as well as resulting in your body mistaking thirst signals for hunger, causing you to eat more. Not to mention severe dehydration can lead to fainting, nausea, headaches and if you don't drink for a few days straight, death.

So ... do you drink enough?

I drink a bottle of peach water each day, and about five cans of pepsi max. That's probably not enough...
I'll try drinking more pure water.

The "part fish" in the poll definitely applies to me! I always have a glass or bottle of water with me wherever I am, I need a steady supply.

No, I do not drink enough water.
In fact, I dislike water a lot.
Instead, I drink about a 2-liter bottle of diet soda every day.
But I'm trying to change this, and force myself to drink more water.
It's important.

I like to drink vitamin water, but it has a lot of sugar in it. I don't think I drink enough water though, I only like it if it's really cold, ice cold. Otherwise it makes me even more thirsty.

Well, tea (up to 5 or 6 cups) now counts as a fluid. Apparently if you drink more than 5-6 cups a day, it starts to work against your fluid intake, rather than for it.
They used to think tea dehydrated you more, because of the caffeine.
But now they've found out differently.
So I'm trying to drink a lot of iced tea with lemon.

Soda and coffee, obviously, do not count toward your fluid intake. They dehydrate you, because of the caffeine and the phosphoric acid (or watever the f it's called) in the soda.
Alcohol doesn't count, for obvious reasons: it's dehydrating.

Koolaid, Crystal Lite, etc... apparently those count toward your fluid intake, although supposedly they're not as good as water, for some unspecified reason (health websites never really say why they're not).
Still, they're better than nothing.

Juice counts toward your fluid intake.
